I grew up in the small far west Texas town of Marfa, in the Big Bend area of Texas. My family moved there from San Angelo, Texas in 1958. I started the second grade that year. My grandmother, Margaret W. Tupper, was a painter and she introduced me to the world of painting and drawing. My mother, May Tupper Quick, herself an artist working in batik, was also a great influence. I received a B.F.A. in studio art, played guitar professionally for several years and did commercial and industrial construction supervision and management for 38 years. I have always maintained a studio to paint. I have lived in central Texas for 50 years now, but my landscape is still the regions of the Big Bend of Texas.
